Nutrition Open Rank Faculty Position

We seek an open-rank (Assistant, Associate, Full), tenure-track professor to join an award-winning faculty at a time of growth and expansion for the University of Delaware’s College of Health Sciences. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in nutritional science or related field, post-doctoral experience, a background commensurate with rank, and an active research program. Successful teaching experience preferred. Primary responsibilities include conducting nationally visible, funded research in human nutrition research, preferably with a focus on nutritional genomics, nutritional immunology, nutritional epidemiology, or the human microbiome, as related to human health and disease; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in macronutrient/micronutrient metabolism, nutritional informatics, and related areas, supervising M.S. and Ph.D. students; and university service. All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces inclusion and diversity.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition (BHAN) includes undergraduate programs in Applied Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, and Health Behavior Science. There are master’s programs in Human Nutrition and Health Promotion, and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Medical Sciences. BHAN has over 800 students, and is known for rapidly growing research and dynamic teaching.

Ranked fifth, nationally, among the best places to study the health professions by College Factual, the College of Health Sciences is a thriving academic unit of over 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 130 faculty with outstanding research and teaching facilities. The College has recently opened an exciting new 100,000 sq. ft. clinical research facility (pictured above) and will occupy 7 floors in a 10-story tower opening in Fall 2018. The College also includes the departments of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing. With annual research expenditures of approximately $26 million, the College currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and DoD. The college boasts strong research teams in the areas of cardiovascular health, neurological disorders, and other chronic disease conditions, as well as rehabilitation science and concussion. There are also numerous collaborative linkages with our clinical partners.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty at the University have regularly received annual cost-of-living and merit salary increases and the benefits package is one of the best in the nation.
