The development of foot ulcers that do not heal is one of the biggest complications a diabetic faces. Diabetic ulcers are the leading cause of lower extremity amputation.
Neuropathy, a complication of diabetes, can cause loss of sensation in the feet. A diabetic can sustain an injury to their foot and not be aware of it, unless they are in the habit of doing daily feet checks, which is something that should be as routine as brushing your teeth if you have diabetes. Something as simple as clipping a toenail too close, a grooming job that should be left for the skills of a podiatrist as opposed to doing it yourself or at a salon, can lead to a major problem. Vascular insufficiency, characterized by a decrease in the lower extremity’s circulation, another complication of diabetes, lessens the oxygenation to the cells tissue. Left untreated these injuries worsen leading to what is known as a diabetic ulcer. Previously physicians in some cases were left with little or no choice but to amputate the extremity to save the patient’s life. Now the use of ionized water can give a patient hope. Attempting to treat ulcers that have been unresponsive to previously traditional treatments with ionized water is an alternative.
Japanese doctors have documented results showing improvement of ulcers in diabetic patients using ionized water. The treatment process they use involves two steps. The affected area is soaked using in a low ph or acid water that is positively charged and contains carbonic, chloride, sulfuric and nitric acid (know as Function Water). Additionally patients are instructed to drink large quantities of ionized alkaline water at the ph between 9 and 10.
It is believed using this two step process helps aide the body in rebuilding the cell structure by drinking the ionized water, at the same time protects the cells from bacterial attack by using the topical solution.
Having a home ionizer will allow a diabetic to duplicate this exact process that is currently used in the hospital systems in Japan. It is also documented that some people have reached a point that they no longer require insulin and/or medications to control their blood glucose levels. Of course stopping any medication is something that should be done only under the supervision of your medical pratitioner. The best thing about having a home ionizer is the entire family will benefit from drinking the water.
As there are many different ionizers on the market it is advisable to select one that meets your own personal needs and financial ability.
