Hi Folks, I'm trying to keep these Obama Healthcare Team Reports numbered so that it is very easy for EVERYbody to stay on top of what's going on with Healthcare Reform AND to STAY involved!!!
We cannot ease up one iota on President Obama's commitment to make US healthcare affordable to us all. As I read about the wonder health news on this site (I'm loving Edwin's Place right now), I am inspired and encouraged to continue to keep the fire burning because it looks like we each recognize how crucial passage of the healthcare reform plan really is. It will assist individuals with AIDS/HIV, Hypertension, Brain Disorders, Special Needs, Cancers, Infant Mortality, Elderly Care, and on and on and on. These health areas affect the African-American population the hardest and that is primarily because we fall into complacency and do not educate or speak up for ourselves. PLEASE make a change that will save our future and that of our children.
This week, we need to keep the fire lit in the Senate Finance Committee to support the Obama Stimulus plan and that includes Healthcare Reform. If you claim just a few minutes each week to send a quick e-mail of thanks and encouragement to the Senate Finance Committee, you will be accomplishing a piece of what is needed to get passage of healthcare reform. The greatest element of the healthcare reform stimulus plan is that we WILL see a public health insurance program come to pass!!!

This Saturday, OFA needs volunteers to spread out across the city and demonstrate that people are behind President Obama and his priorities. We are creating an ARMY of volunteers, who together will work to pressure Congress to pass the President's agenda.
PLEASE sign up to participate in a canvass on Saturday, March 21 at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. if you reside in the Washington, DC area and let your friends know! Just an hour or two....Bring your teens and introduce them to civic duty!!!!! We'll meet up outside of the Navy Memorial metro station and then go out to high traffic areas to sign up supporters. March 21 will be a great opportunity to demonstrate our strength across the nation. Our work has just begun! When I attended the Obama Healthcar Advocacy Summit on January 21, 2009, I traveled by bus, lightrail, bus, and subway to participate allll by myself. I share this because if you live in the Washington, DC area, please do NOT make excuses to volunteer an hour or two. The joy and happiness I experienced knowing I was making a difference is indescribable!
In addition, after the White House Summit on health care reform last week, the administration is taking the show on the road. President Obama is having regional health care forums in five states. I shared this with you in a previous update. While President Obama is on the road, he wants to hear from everyone in this country about their thoughts on health care reform. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE SUMMIT IS NOT IN YOUR STATE! You can still be heard!!!!

President Obama laid out a historic commitment to health care in his budget proposal, and it's already come under attack by more conservative Members of Congress. Remember, there will be all kinds of scare tactics and I shared those with you as well. Because of this, it's particularly important that we let President Obama know we support his commitment to health care in the budget.
