Walking is a great form of exercise that almost anyone can do. Walking not only burns calories but it is also helps control your appetite. Walking will help your lungs and heart...control your blood pressure and strenthen your bones. Need a way to calm your mind...walking is an excellent stress reducer and will aid in getting a good night sleep.
Before you set out to start your 3 - 4 day a week routine...there a few hepful tips to consider.
1. Always walk with a partner and be sure it is in a safe area.
2. Invest in a good pair of shoes that provide adequate support and correctly sized.
3. Watch your posture as you walk...be mindful to keep you back straight, shoulders back and swing your arms as you move.
4. Make sure your are walking at a comfortable strides
5. Pace your walking...starting out slowly as a warm up...increasing to a faster pace...and slowing down for the finally 5 minutes as a cool down. It is advisable to do some stretches to help avoide stress injuries that can occur when you first begin a walking routine
Gradually increase your distance...a pedometer is a fun thing to have to monitor you progress. Not only can you walk your way to better health but you can watch the pounds shed.
