We all are aware that for most medical procedures that you have, the insurance industry is who ultimately decides how, what, when and why associated with this process. One such surgery in particular is mastectomies and/or lupectomies. Often women are sent home hours after these procedures...still groggy, in pain and with the drainage tube still attached. Even when a patient's physician feels that it is in the best interest of his/her patient to remain hospitalized..the patient has no choice if the insurance company does not authorize the stay.
Currently signatures being collected to ensure that this practice no longer will apply.
