WASHINGTON -Amtrak Vacations, one of the leading rail travel package providers in North America, is now expanding its escorted rail journeys for 2012 based on feedback from customers with three brand-new itineraries and improvements to existing tours. The itineraries featurenational parks, local treasures, in depth experiences and must see destinations.
The five itineraries for 2012 include: Glacier Park Discovery, featuring Glacier and Waterton Lakes National Park; Peaks To Pacific, featuring Yellowstone National Park; The Great Northwest by Rail, featuring Glacier National Park, Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper National Park; Southwest Spirit, featuring Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon; and Jazz, Blues and Rock 'N 'Roll By Rail, featuring the cities of Chicago, Memphis & New Orleans.
"We have come up with a formula for these tours that strikes a chord with the traveling public. Nine out of ten customers rank our tours as an "excellent value' in our customer surveys," says Steven Grasso, vice president of product and marketing for Amtrak Vacations. "Our philosophy for these tours is that you don't just see the destinations, you experience them."
An Amtrak Vacations rail journey provides a unique combination of experiences, allowing you to discover the entire destination in a creative way. The Glacier package offers participants a chance to travel on the Going-to-the-Sun Road and cross the border into Canada to have lunch at the picturesque Prince of Wales Hotel. Travelers in the Albuquerque package will be part of the famous Balloon Fiesta.
All itineraries include an overnight rail component on Amtrak and the Great Northwest program also includes an overnight on VIA Rail Canada through the Canadian Rockies.
Amtrak Vacations offers an early booking discount that decreases as the departures fill up. Escorted rail journeys are limited to 28 people. Information on escorted rail packages can be found at AmtrakVacations.com.
