More than 300 activists, business leaders, community members and political enthusiasts visited Morgan State University on July 13 for the White House African American Policy Forum. Designed to engage citizens from the mid-Atlantic region on policy issues affecting African-Americans, representatives from state and federal agencies presented and interacted with participants on job creation, education affordability, public health and economic development.
White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett gave opening remarks for the forum in an armchair conversation with activist and radio host Joe Madison. It was the second visit to Morgan for Jarrett, who received an honorary doctorate from the university in 2010.
“It was an enlightening, inspiring and information forum,” said Pastor Kenneth L Barney Sr. of the New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, MD.
Morgan joins Jackson State University in Mississippi as the second historically black college to host the forum tour.
