Jones' Journal...
Dear Friends,
Last week, we released A Look Ahead, Phase II: Progress Made and the Next Mile. It highlights the successes we – as a team – made over the last year and a half and outlines where we need to go to continue turning this District around. I realize that the name on the first page of that document says “Superintendent of Schools Dwight D. Jones,” but I deliberately say “we released” and where “we need to go” because nothing in our plans are possible without all of us working as a team.
Like Phase I, Phase II was a collaborative project. We listened to parents, teachers, students, administrators, support staff, and concerned members of the community, including our Trustees. We asked where they wanted this District to go, and what they wanted this District to be, and then did our best to put that vision on paper. Phase II is a progress report on what has been accomplished in Phase I, and it gives insight on where we go from here -- that's why we call it "the Next Mile."
I also want to make you aware that tonight, October 1, I will be on a live, call-in show on Vegas PBS at 7:30 p.m. The show will focus on the Pay-As-You-Go capital improvement plan and I will be answering your questions about the implications of the plan for our District. On Tuesday, October 9, I will be speaking at a Community Linkage "MegaPAC" meeting at Valley High School at 9:30 a.m. and again at a town hall meeting, cohosted by Assemblywoman Lucy Flores and Commissioner Lawrence Weekly, at Rancho High School at 6:00 p.m. I encourage you all to come out and hear what’s going on with the ballot initiative, which will be "Question 2" on your ballot this November. If you cannot make either one of the meetings, I invite you to read more about the Pay-As-You-Go capital improvement plan at
www.ccsd.net/Q2. I know we all have busy schedules, but I would encourage you to take a look at "A Look Ahead, Phase II" and also read about the Pay-As-You-Go capital improvement plan. It is critical that we can all work together on these important initiatives. As always, feel free to e-mail me your thoughts at dwight.jones@ccsd.net or tweet me @dwightdjones.
Best,
Dwight D. Jones
