8 Nutrient-Dense Foods That Improve Cholesterol (935 hits)

High cholesterol can lead to plaque formations in the arteries that cause heart attacks and strokes. This most commonly results from elevated LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides (fat in the blood). Reduced HDL ("good") cholesterol can also play a role, as it is responsible for removing LDL cholesterol from arterial walls. Like most legumes, red kidney beans are cholesterol-free, low in saturated fat, and exceptionally high in dietary fiber.
