The HBCUConnect staff headed to Central State University Friday to reconnect with Alumni, College Faculty, and the class of 2014! Ruth Moss had a special mission to accomplish of serving as her Class Representative for their 50th reunion, 64' in the graduation ceremony along with classmates: Major McNeil, Joanne Miller-O'Bannon, Al Merriweather, Letha Ann Stewart, 63'.
Of course the best aspect of the weekend at Central were the people. From the moment we arrived to our hotel we were awarded the best of the best. Our campus tour was given by Mr. Perkins the Alumni Director and Mr. Shelton Page, the National Alumni President. The Public Broadcasting and Business schools both have progressive environments that left us feeling excited about the type of education offered to students. The faculty exuded passion for helping students and alumni. We enjoyed lunch with the graduates, and even attended "A Night of Philanthropy". One of the speakers left us with a quote that says: If you're not at the table, you're on the menu." Being in the company of so many devoted alumni, one can only walk away with a desire to give back financially and other non traditional ways.
There were 300+ graduates at Saturdays Ceremony. Congresswoman Marcia Fudge was the Commencement Speaker. She requested the graduates to be of service and good character. Congratulations class of 2014! Now it's time to celebrate and reminisce on the good ole' days.
