Part-time • Starts July 16, 2018, ends November 30, 2018 • Hourly pay • Excellent benefits • Work from anywhere in continental U.S.

In 2018, MoveOn will be investing in a program that aspires to have impact that lasts well beyond the 2018 election. Our “Resist & Win” down-ballot campaign will elevate and support a new generation of state and local candidates who will be leaders in the progressive movement, modeling the sort of behavior we seek from candidates and elected officials, and helping shape and move the Democratic Party in a more progressive direction for decades to come.

As a support manager of MoveOn’s 2018 down-ballot program, you will support the team in their efforts to identify, endorse, support, elevate, and work with dozens of inclusive, diverse, progressive candidates who are running for state and local offices–with an emphasis on young people, people of color, women, poor and working-class people, members of the LGBTQ community, immigrants, Muslims, and other identities underrepresented in the halls of power.

The down-ballot team will help great candidates win state and local elections, elevate inspiring candidates running movement-connected campaigns to national audiences, and tell the story of the work to media, donors, and allies in a way that builds progressive power and power for MoveOn for the long haul, helping to influence what the future of the progressive movement and the Democratic Party looks like.

Responsibilities:
Help track candidate identification, vetting, and endorsement process through maintaining databases and spreadsheets, including researching candidates through partner websites, social media, and member outreach to compile a spreadsheet of prospective candidates.
Work with candidates directly to maximize MoveOn resources in their campaigns through Election Day, including coordinating direct donations and digital ads, drafting volunteer recruitment and fundraising emails, organizing days of actions, and providing general campaign advice to candidates.
Work with MoveOn members to support endorsed candidates by elevating races to their radar and providing MoveOn members opportunities to join state and local campaigns as key volunteer leaders.
Work closely with other MoveOn teams to look for opportunities to work together and work with our legal and compliance teams.
Help in sharing on-the-ground stories from MoveOn members and endorsed candidates in social, local, and national media through articles and videos.
Conduct outreach through email to encourage progressive candidates to apply for MoveOn’s endorsement.
Vet candidates and create training materials as needed.
Organize, manage, and reply to incoming questions to the team email inbox.
Support regional staff in executing GOTV efforts for endorsed candidates, including drafting emails, text scripts, submitting social media requests on behalf of endorsed candidates and coordinating with endorsed candidates’ campaigns to assess needs.

Required skills and experience:
At least one cycle of electoral campaign experience
Excellent personal organization and time management skills
Demonstrated professionalism with colleagues and partners
Experience writing and editing written materials
Commitment to racial and social justice and an understanding of organizational equity and how it must show up in the way we win our campaigns to truly win progressive power
Understanding of political issue & advocacy climate and progressive movement and electoral politics
Ability to learn various MoveOn systems for data tracking, email, mobile, volunteer recruitment and fundraising
Desire to build something awesome and have it succeed
Self-directedness—MoveOn is a virtual office, and while you will interact with your colleagues constantly, you will be driving your own workflow and output.
