Helping Drive Change in Black and other Minority Health - Community Welcome (3818 hits)


The Maryland Health and Human Service Committee, chaired by Senator Shirley Nathan-Pulliam, will partner with the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), Baltimore Chapter, to host a health workshop on Friday, November 9th 2018 from 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M in the Senate Miller Building in Annapolis Maryland. Maryland residents and community leaders with a voice on black and minority health are welcome and encouraged to attend and support the goals of this FREE event. The theme of the health workshop is “Reconciliation and Equity a Conversation on Race: Impact on Health”. This day of discussion, will be led by experts in their respective fields. It will also highlight the underlying factors contributing to health disparities, setting the stage for collaboration across disciplines and impacting policy change. The workshop is part of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland’s 23rd Annual Legislative Weekend on November 9th and 10th.

The health workshop hopes to gain recommendations, strategies, changes, and actions in State institutions, policies, and laws to improve health in minority communities. The event is a day for the public to have a voice in building a healthier community. There will be focus group where people can speak on then impact of racial description on their lives.
