For Immediate Release From NAMI-Maryland!
Hello,
As you celebrate your Halloween festivities today, remember: a mental health condition is NOT a Halloween inspiration.
The inaccurate and negative portrayal of psychological disorders in Halloween costumes and decor only contributes to the stigma you - as a supporter of mental health - work so hard against and perpetuates the myth that people with mental health conditions are dangerous, harmful, and weird. These negative perceptions can prevent people from seeking the help they truly need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
Here at NAMI Maryland, we're not afraid of ghouls and ghosts. To us, there's nothing scarier than the fact that Marylanders struggle to get the mental health services they need.
As a supporter of mental health in our community, you know the value of free peer-led education and support offered by us at NAMI Maryland. Thanks to you, we are at the forefront of providing free trainings and support programs for individuals with mental health conditions and their loved ones in our state.
That's why you're invited to kick off the holiday season on #GivingTuesday:
https://secure.givelively.org/donate/nami-... #GivingTuesday will take place on November 28th, 2023, and is a global day of giving back where people around the world will come together to celebrate generosity and make an impact.
Turn Hope Into Action - Build Better Lives.
Show your support of mental health in Maryland by donating to our #GivingTuesday campaign today and build better lives for the millions of Marylanders affected by mental health conditions.
We wish you a safe and happy Halloween!
