I notice that everytime I used a named brand face cleanser, I was feeling sick. Then I started reading the ingredients. Since I wasn't a chemiist major, I looked up each ingredients to get an understanding of what I was putting on my face. And Propylene Glycol stood out this is what I found.
propylene glycol - a sweet colorless, viscous, hygroscopic liquid used as an antifreeze and in brake fluid and also as a humectant in cosmetics and personal care items although it can be absorbed through the skin with harmful effects
propylene is a flammable gaseous hydrocarbon C3H6 obtained by cracking petroleum hydrocarbons and used chiefly in organic synthesis (webster dictionary.)
