Comedian Bill Cosby is bringing his show to Lancaster.
The Lancaster Education Foundation announced Wednesday that the entertainer will stage a "Bill Cosby Live!" benefit performance at McCaskey High School, 445 N. Reservoir St.
The event will be held June 14 beginning at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.
General admission tickets are $85 and can be purchased at
www.lancasteredfnd.org/events/ or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
A meet-and-greet reception with Cosby will be held at 7 p.m. Admission to that is $200.
Proceeds from the event will go to the foundation, which will use the money to benefit the teachers and students in School District of Lancaster.
Cosby has captivated fans with his comedy routines, albums, the groundbreaking series "The Cosby Show" and best-selling books about fatherhood.
He broke a television racial barrier with "I Spy," becoming the first black person to costar on a television series. He won three consecutive Emmys for his performance.
Perhaps his greatest contribution to American entertainment and culture was "The Cosby Show," about a close-knit, upper-class black family.
The show held the No. 1 spot in ratings for years.
Cosby has received Kennedy Center Honors, the Presidential Medal of Freedom (America's highest civilian honor), the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Marian Anderson Award.
