The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council - a statewide advocacy and public policy organization dedicated to the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life -seeks a creative, motivated individual committed to our mission to serve as our Director of Communications & Information Management.
Main purpose of the job:
The Director of Communications & Information Management develops and executes a multi-strategy communications plan to provide essential information and resources to targeted audiences, raise awareness of Council priorities and initiatives, and impact and influence issues of importance to the Council. The Director of Communications & Information Management also manages and contributes to the development of the Council's 5-year State Plan, annual comprehensive progress reports and other internal and external reports. Related to this, the Director oversees the Council's evaluation plan.
Key duties (partial list):
•Leads ongoing assessment of the Council's communications and executes strategies to achieve desired outcomes
•Manages all aspects of external communications including, but not limited to, website, social media and production of publications
•Provides leadership and support to special initiatives and events
•Manages and contributes to the preparation of the Council's 5-year State Plan and annual federal reports
•Oversees the Council's evaluation plan and the related information management system.

Who we are
The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council is a federally funded public policy and advocacy organization. Our mission is to advance the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life by eliminating barriers, creating opportunities, empowering people, and promoting innovation. The Council is located within state government but functions as an autonomous organization with its own director, staff, strategic plan, priorities, and activities. We are a small staff of five.
