Job Summary
The University of Illinois College of Law in Urbana Champaign is one of the oldest law schools in the country, with an accomplished and influential faculty, a smart and collegial student body, and a strong alumni network. The College of Law is currently accepting applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor to teach legal writing. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track, specialized faculty position with the possibility of renewable contracts. The individual hired will teach one section of the graded first-year legal writing courses, Legal Writing & Analysis and Introduction to Advocacy, as well as one or two upper-level courses, including at least one upper-level writing course.

Appointment Information
The anticipated start date is August 16, 2026. Salary is commensurate with experience at a range of $85,000-$90,000 annually. The University of Illinois offers an outstanding and comprehensive benefit package.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. They must also have excellent writing and analytical skills, an outstanding law school record, and a minimum of two years of legal practice experience. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
