German Language Lecturer
GERMAN LECTURER

The Department of German at Princeton University seeks a full-time Lecturer to teach German language courses during the 2026-2027 academic year, with the possibility of renewal for one or more years. In exceptional cases, an appointment may be made at the rank of Senior Lecturer.
The Lecturer will teach within the four-semester German language sequence. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, additional responsibilities may include leading language sections, leading precepts, training and supervising graduate student teaching assistants, teaching courses outside of the language sequence, and participating in course and curriculum design.

Appointment duty time will be 12 hours per semester, and the position is expected to begin on September 1, 2026. Princeton University offers competitive salary and employee benefits, and Lecturers are eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer if they have demonstrated exemplary accomplishments.

This position is subject to the University's background check policy. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University.

Lecturer: $81,700-$90,000, Senior Lecturer: $94,000-$105,000

Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
Ph.D. required.
Prior teaching experience at the college or university level.
Native or near-native fluency in German.
Proven experience teaching German at a university level.
