Strategy Implementation & Integration Senior Director
Meals on Wheels is starting its third year of an ambitious five-year strategic plan. This is a new position that will help drive the successful implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and support a number of its critical initiatives. The Senior Director will support the Chief Strategy & Impact Officer (CSIO) by leading strategy implementation and strengthening cross-functional integration, ensuring that strategic priorities, including those identified to mitigate key risks, are embedded in annual planning, actively monitored for progress tracking and timely execution and ultimately, assessed for impact. This role will serve as a central integrator and collaborator across the organization to support adoption and execution of strategic initiatives, troubleshoot challenges, build cross-organizational teamwork and alignment, and advance major organizational priorities that strengthen the long-term success of the network.
The position reports to the Chief Strategy & Impact Officer, and is an Arlington, VA based, flexible hybrid working role. There is no weekly in-office requirement, however the ability to visit the office as needed is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy Implementation & Integration:
-Partner with CSIO and Strategy Working Group (SWG) to support execution and communication of the organization’s strategic plan, related operational plans and risk mitigation efforts.
-Drive the structures and processes needed to strengthen, monitor and evaluate strategy execution and impact, with a focus on prioritization, sequencing, troubleshooting and course-correction.
-Plan, schedule, and facilitate strategy discussions, to enable alignment, decision making and clear next steps.
-Track progress against defined outcomes and success metrics ensuring accountability and follow through.
-Develop and socialize clear, decision-ready insights that translate strategy, progress, and risk into shared priorities and aligned action.
-Manage the annual planning process including the development of agendas, materials, timelines and supporting documentation.
-Lead the ongoing assessment of the external environment, synthesizing emerging risks, trends and opportunities into clear implications for our strategic and operational priorities.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Adoption:
-Serve as a connective thread across the organization to strengthen shared accountability and coordinated execution of the strategic plan.
-Engage key internal stakeholders and facilitate cross functional integration during planning and implementation.
-Support the adoption and integration of initiatives and workplans ensuring they are clearly understood, operationalized, and embedded across the organization.
-Build and socialize resources and tools to facilitate staff understanding of and abilities to implement the operational plan.
Strategic Initiatives and Priorities:
-Provide strategic execution support to assigned organizational initiatives by developing briefs and workplans, identifying milestones and timelines, and collaborating with cross-functional leaders.
-Contribute to the design of new initiatives and decision-making and implementation structures that advance organizational priorities.
-Support relationship-building with external stakeholders and partners by providing updates on the organization’s priorities, progress and impact.
Qualifications & Requirements -Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business Administration with 7+ years of experience in non-profit strategy, planning, program management or related areas or 10+ years of relevant experience.
-Demonstrated success translating strategy into execution using data to evaluate initiatives and inform recommendations.
-Strong strategic judgement and ability to synthesize complex information into clear priorities and implications.
-Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adept at building cross-departmental relationships.
-Experience developing and managing planning, implementation and evaluation process.
-Advanced proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data management tools with the ability to leverage actionable plans and measure success.
-Strong writing skills with experience synthesizing analysis and evaluation into clear executive-ready materials.
-Project Management Certification (PMI, PMP, etc.) and knowledge of the senior nutrition field are preferred.
-Models the Association's cultural attributes of Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Empowerment and Service (C.A.R.E.S.)
