Imaging Assistant PRN
Job Requirements

JOB SUMMARY: Greets and assists patients and visitors, and records patient and imaging information, files and retrieves papers and films by alphabetic and numeric sequence, assists technologists performing imaging procedures, transports patients to and from the department.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Education & Training: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Work Orientation & Experience: At least one year of customer service experience preferred. Experience in healthcare and medical terminology preferred.

Skills & Abilities: Ability to work calmly in a busy Imaging Department environment; Visual and hearing abilities sufficient to receive, understand, and act upon clerical and technical instructions given in person, over the telephone, computer screens, and in writing; Ability to respond politely to anxious patient and family members, rapidly changing work priorities from technologists, supervisors, and physicians; Ability to communicate effectively; Strong customer service and patient care skills; Ability to navigate a computer system; Effectively function as a member of a collaborative team



Work Experience

1.Receives patients and visitors to the department in a professional and reassuring manner.

2. Answers telephone with polite tone of voice to ensure professional and reassuring communications.

3. Directs incoming telephone calls to appropriate department member to ensure timely and accurate response to information requests and physician orders.

4. Prepares patient requests with accurate patient information to ensure accurate patient records and timely billing.

5. Notifies staff technologists of incoming orders to ensure timely response to patient and physician needs.

6. Pulls patient film folders for mammograms and digitizing images for accurate patient records.

7. Prepares and distributes schedules to ensure timely information flow within the department and with other departments.

8. Files mammography jackets by numerical sequence for accurate and timely retrieval as needed.

9. Prepares films for mailing and distribution to outside destinations to ensure correct and timely film release.

10. Prints imaging film copies/burning of CDs for release to outside offices to ensure correct films and proper film quality for medical use by the receiving physician.

11. Assists patient movement within the department to ensure patient safety and timely throughput. Verifies patient identification using two patient identifiers (full name and DOB)

12. Utilizes PACS in an appropriate way to best meet customer needs. Imports CDs received into PACs system as needed.

13. Utilizes Meditech in an appropriate way to best meet the customers needs.

14. Ensures preliminary interpretations are sent/FAXED to the appropriate destination.

15. Maintains a clean assigned work area to ensure a sanitary and professionally appearing environment for patient service.

16. Maintains and assesses adequate stock/supplies in assigned areas.

17. Presents a professional appearance and manner to patients, staff and physicians.

18. Other duties as assigned.
