<p><span style="font-family: Arial"></span></p><h2 style="text-align: center"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Instructor/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Teaching Assistant Professor</span></font></h2><h2 style="text-align: center"><font size="3" style="font-family: Segoe UI">Department of Chemistry</font></h2><h3 style="text-align: center"><font size="3" style="font-family: Segoe UI">College of Liberal Arts & Sciences</font></h3><p style="text-align: center"><font size="3" style="font-family: Segoe UI"><strong>University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign</strong></font></p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">The Department of Chemistry in theCollege of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois atUrbana-Champaign invites applications for up to two positions asInstructor/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Teaching Assistant Professor in GeneralChemistry area.</span><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI"><strong>Responsibilities</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Duties in theInstructor/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Teaching Assistant Professor position are:</span></p><ul><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Preparing and presenting contents in lecture and laboratory courses in General Chemistry.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Supervising and mentoring teaching assistants, holding office hours to meet with students outside of class time, writing and grading examinations, and assigning grades.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Coordinating and communicating with the Associate Director of Teaching Labs and lab staff about general chemistry lab courses and experiments.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Attending General Chemistry area meetings and serving on departmental and University-wide committees on as needed basis.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Revising course content and syllabi to meet General Education certification and recertification.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Developing content and teaching online General Chemistry courses that fulfill the University online course certification requirement.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Serving on one departmental committee a year.<br></span></li></ul><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Duties in <strong>Senior Lecturer</strong> and <strong>TeachingAssistant Professor</strong> positions also include substantial additions, improvements,or other contributions to the chemistry curriculum, such as new coursedevelopment, study abroad experiences, and innovative teaching methods thatimprove student learning.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Duties in the <strong>Teaching AssistantProfessor</strong> position also include substantial educational and technical researchin the chemical sciences and supervision and mentorship of undergraduateresearchers.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI"><strong>Qualifications</strong></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Applicants for the <strong>Instructo</strong>r rank must (i) hold a Masters degree in chemistry, or a closely related fieldand (ii) have demonstrated potential for high-quality college oruniversity-level teaching in chemistry. Candidates must have an interest in thedevelopment of a research program in chemistry or chemical education alongsidetheir teaching and pedagogical duties.</span></p><h4><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Salary and Appointment Information</span></h4><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">The positions are on a 9-month service basis, but with an early startdate of Aug 1, 2026. The position is renewable yearly based on funding andstrong performance reviews. Renewed appointments will be on a 9-month servicebasis (Aug 16–May 15). The 9-month salaryranges are as follows:</span></p><ul><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Instructor or Lecturer is $60,000–$63,000</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Senior Lecturer is $65,000–$68,000</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Teaching Assistant Professor is $65,000–$68,000</span></li></ul><p><span style="font-family: Segoe UI">Courseswill primarily be taught in person on the Urbana-Champaign campus, with thepotential for online teaching as deemed necessary.
