Many African Americans are being persuaded to take one side or the other on the issue of Palestine. All I have to say as far as the politics is do your homework. Palestine has been in existence since before the first bible was published.
I want to talk about the health issue of the occupation of Palestine. Many Palestinians are cut off from quality healthcare. The hospitals and clinics in Gaza and other areas outside of Jerusalem are too few. Also many times services such as water and sewage are interrupted at random. Again, do your homework go to the various human rights web sites and see for yourself.
There is a group on Facebook called Stop the Killing in Gaza. At this time there is a postcard campaign being hosted by this group. Everyone is asked to buy a postcard put Stop the Killing in Gaza on the back with their name, city and state and mail it to: Hadayai Majeed, c/o Maidah: Atlanta Food Consortium, 2720 Sylvan Rd. SW, East Point, GA 30334. These postcards will be sent to influencial people to include the Obama-Biden transition team.
This is one way to help without promoting violence or taking sides in the issue.
