The label reads “All Natural” so as one who is committed to living a healthier lifestyle this seems like a product that is safe…but is it really? It has to mean a food that is preservative, chemical and additive free? Unfortunately this is not what that term means…far from it. “Natural” does not mean unprocessed.
One of the products that really got me was “raw” sugar…along the way I had been lead to believe that this was “good” for you…but here is the truth. Raw sugar is a little less refined than its counterpart (white sugar) and no more nutritional value. You can read more about raw sugar
http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/brown-sug... Manufacturers, in an effort to attract the consumer, use the word “Natural” to be synonymous with it hasn’t been processed much or it doesn't contain many additives. You definitely have seen the 100% natural ingredients on some of the juices…which can mean that they contain high fructose corn syrup, natural citric acid, natural potassium citrate and natural flavors...sounds really healthy?
When making food choices it can serve you better to go with organic vs. all natural. Before you even start to think what most people usually say…organic foods cost more…I will be the last person to debate you on that…however…you can pay a little more now to help prevent ill health and disease or you can pay later.
Check with your local co-ops to see if they have any program where you can exchange volunteer hours for products…if they don’t suggest it...or sit down and make a list and see where you might be able to redistribute funds in your budget.
Let me hear back from you, info@mypearlsofhealth.com, on your experience with your local co-op…will do a directory of co-ops that have some program to make it easier for people to live a healthier lifestyle.
