The season is upon us where many of us will be packing our bags going on that long awaited summer vacation. Whether you will be traveling by air, bus or car...it is important to remember that regular movement will help improve circulation and decrease your risk of DVT.
If possible, it is advised to be mobile every 60 to 90 minutes of your trip and do some seated exercises as well.
In addition to movement, don’t forget to stay well hydrated during travel. I know some people limit their fluid intake, especially with the kids, to avoid the need for trips to rest room or stopping at rest areas, but dehydration while traveling can lead to headaches, fatigue, lightheadedness and more. In fact dehydration in the young, aged or those with other health conditions can be serious and/or life threatening.
