~** A Word Of Encouragement **~ 4 (743 hits)

Accepting others as they are is a perfect picture

of seeing theory lived out in practicality.

We may say we accept others, but until we

actually do it, it is only theory.

No one can actually change anyone else,

so why do we try so hard?

Present to them the Gospel?

Yes!

Attempt to introduce them to Christ?

Fine.

Suggest a better way of life or standard of living?

They'll probably appreciate it.

But change them?

No...

I am learning that if we want our associates to change,

two things must occur:

we must leave their alteration to the work of God- To

his Spirit and timing; and must accept them

(PREFERABLY LOVE THEM) as they are.

Acceptance has an important side effect, too, related to

honesty or openness. If I know I am going to be accepted

by another person, no matter what I say or do-if I know that

I will not be judged for my behavior or comments-then

I am more apt to be transparent with them.

In fact, I will be open only to the degree that I know I'm

going to be accepted.

The less judgmental we are, the more easily other people

will open their hearts to us.
