
Presidential Advisor Valerie Jarrett, Secretary Arne Duncan and White House Initiative Director John Silvanus Wilson to Join HBCU Presidents and Leaders at Major Gathering
WASHINGTON – The White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities will bring together nearly all of the nation’s HBCU presidents with dozens of senior Administration officials and business leaders in Washington next week to discuss President Obama’s goal of creating the best educated and most competitive and diverse workforce in the world by 2020.
Senior Advisor to the President Valerie Jarrett, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, White House HBCU Initiative Director John Silvanus Wilson, Jr. and Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., will deliver major remarks on how Historically Black Colleges and Universities can raise the bar and extend their reach to serve more students.

9:30 a.m. - White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities Director John Silvanus Wilson, Jr., delivers remarks on the Obama Administration’s strategy to advance HBCUs.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
12:30 p.m. - Education Secretary Arne Duncan delivers remarks on the Obama Administration’s priorities to support HBCUs.
4:15 p.m. - Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., delivers remarks about funding for HBCUs in the federal budget.
