
South Carolina State University will host an anti-hazing/anti-violence conference on Feb. 24-25 as part of a national initiative to end hazing and violence across America.
While the initiative is designed to end hazing in general, it will deal specifically with hazing at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, according to a news release.
More than 35 representatives from the nation's HBCUs, the faith-based community and civic organizations will meet at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Jan. 17, to launch the task force and announce the goal and mission of its first conference to be held at S.C. State in February.
S.C. State University President Dr. George E. Cooper, who is also president of the Council of 1890 Universities, will be acting with Martin Luther King III as co-chair of the task force.
