New Report on State Mental Health Legislation
NAMI has released its new report,
State Mental Health Legislation 2015: Trends, Themes and Effective Practices.
This third annual state legislation report highlights good and bad news on state mental health budgets and legislation. For the good news, 35 states adopted one or more bills we consider worthy of replication. These measures are marked with a Gold Star in the report. However, at a time when public awareness of the need for mental health reform continues to increase, funding for mental health services fell in more states than it grew. The report also flags bills that appear ill-informed or discriminatory.
It is important to get the word out to your key advocacy contacts such as your governor, legislative leadership and the media. We've provided below a cover letter template and two-page brief to include in your messages.
Share the report on your website and Facebook page; use the report to support your advocacy work.
