WJOU's 5th Annual Community Health Fair Hosted By Oakwood University (2907 hits)

This morning, the doors of the Millet Activity Center opened for the Fifth Annual Community Health Fair, hosted by Oakwood University's Praise Station WJOU 90.1 FM, Healthy Campus 2020 and Good Samaritan Hospice.

Over 75 vendors will provide a variety of health screenings, BMI Testing, dental consultation, flu shots, healthy product presentations, affordable healthcare act counseling, healthy cooking demonstrations, and information for senior citizens and home health care services.

"This event is our gift to the community," said Ron Gilbert, coordinator of the Health Fair. "We aim to provide resources for people to determine their health status, and how to maintain good health," he added.

During the health fair, the WJOU-FM/Good Samaritan Hospice Health Fair Community Awards will be presented. Organizers will also provide scholarships to Oakwood University students in the areas of communication, allied health and nursing. "Not only do we want to make sure we let the community know about health, we want to help students out as well who are pursuing education in these health and communication-related fields," said Gilbert.

The presenting sponsors for this year's health fair include the Breath of Life Television Ministries, and the Oakwood University Church.
