Most clergy/spiritual leaders are constantly on duty tending to the needs of those that they serve. While spiritual development and growth is of extreme importance, it is equally essential that attention is given to the mental well-being of those who are providing service. Too many are experiencing burn out, emotional break downs and untreated PTSD.

There is still a lot of stigma around mental health, which can make it difficult for individuals to seek help. Some people may feel ashamed or embarrassed to talk about their mental health struggles, while others may feel like they will be judged by others. There is a need to break down these barriers by offering a supportive and accepting environment where individuals can share their experiences without fear of judgment or shame.

Faith leaders are not immune to mental health struggles. Let’s discuss what a healthy culture of acceptance and understanding around mental health, reducing stigma, that makes it easier for our leaders/providers to seek help if they are struggling with their mental health.

Let’s talk about the weight of being a caretaker/ministry leader – emotional/mental health, burnout and -PTSD.
